OUT NOW! [BLM037] TEXTURE / PARASOMNIA
Drawing on chaos magick, heartbreak, dream logic and deviance, ‘Parasomnia’ is by turns hypnotic, disturbing and majestic. Texture’s final EP in the ‘Neuroleptica’ trilogy sees him entering darker waters than on ‘Aphasia’ and ‘Synaesthesia.’
The first track ‘Victimae’ is an instrumental hip-hop break with chopped and screwed vocal samples and backwards chanting. On ‘Come Home,’ he collaborates with Irish hip-hop producer dustmotes (Public Spaces Lab) for an acerbic, bitter, but beautiful heartbreak track. On ‘Flipping Over,’ Texture, Krowne and DJ Symatic revisit a track from Krowne’s ‘Orders From Mars’ EP, turning it into a dark and feral weird-sex-and-drugs rant. On ‘Assassin’s Creed,’ Monkeytribe (who previously worked with rapper Soom T, of Jahtari / Mungo’s HiFi) provides a menacing hip-house background for Texture’s analysis of the credo of Hassan-i-Sabbah – ‘Nothing Is True, Everything Is Permitted.’
Texture helped set up the Black Lantern Music in 2009, and curates the site alongside Asthmatic Astronaut, Morphamish and Harlequinade. He is a member of the Chemical Poets.
